Liberty Utilities and Central Arizona Project
Liberty Utilities and Central Arizona Project (CAP) developed and built the state’s first public-private, reclaimed-water recharge facility, the Liberty Aquifer Replenishment Facility in Goodyear (now the Sustainable Effluent to Aquifer Project), which commenced operation in early 2017. The ground-breaking partnership provided CAP with an affordable, drought-proof 100-year water supply for the Central Arizona Groundwater Replenishment District while Liberty Utilities gets a cost-effective way to manage its effluent in a sustainable manner that provides multiple benefits to its customers.
Upgrades to the project in 2020 have enhanced the recharge capacity.
